Moving Into the Apartment

Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks devlog!

This week, we have been working on Leon's apartment. Before the hack, we had all of our grey box items and reference cams in place for the background images to be implemented. We returned to that stage this Saturday, with all screen transition triggers in place. The triggers are duplicated to allow for the player to switch back to the previous scene when they walk back through. These trigger sets need a few tweaks to be ready for prime time, but we should be able to have them polished up this week.

This week, we moved from Unity 2018.3 to Unity 2019.1. The new Unity is working very well, we haven't had the chance to try out all of the new features, but we will try to take advantage of as many as we can. The only issue with transferring over to 2019 was that Sonja's point and click movement did not work, only directional movement using the arrow keys worked. This issue is next to be resolved, but it did give us a chance to try out the model with directional controls. Directional controls will be optional in the full release of the game and the demo.

The backgrounds for the apartment are implemented and lined up properly with the physical objects in scene. We will be working on animating the backgrounds next week. We will also be working on adding in more 3D elements such as particle effects into the scene to make the areas feel more real.

Thank you for reading our end of week devlog!

See you next time!
